Grace & Me

I guess you have noticed I have taken a seriously long break from blogging. I have so much to share and so much has happened in the past two plus months. Most I will save for another time, the greatest news is that is what I have been given MORE TIME! As you must have an idea, I have this journey with cancer that wants to keep interfering with my life but it is just a bump in the road and I will continue . The most important thing I want to share today is God's grace is more than enough. More than life, more than health, more than anything it is...

2 Corinthians 12:9  But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.

I'm Still HERE!

My 2-Year anniversary is June 6, the date I was diagnosed with an aggressive form of metastatic melanoma, cancer. I really think the moment you find out you have cancer is a bit like finding out there is no Santa (but worse). Your world grows up in a new and scary way. All I wanted was my ordinary life back, and it became utterly clear, that time becomes more valuable than anything else is. Well, I didn't get my “ordinary life” back if I did I think that would be the sad part of the story. I had a good life but not a great life. I really think I focused on some really crazy things. What I did get is more time to have an extra-ordinary life and that is just aMaZiNg! I have danced more, sang more, laughed more, loved more, and defiantly hugged more than I ever did B.C (before cancer). My days are just better! .My life looking back on it was like drinking flat Coke, it looked good but there was just something missing. Sometimes I know hearing about another cancer story from me is like hearing about another celebrity in rehab, it just might get old. But, I can’t help but share how really amazing God is in my life. It truly is my story about redemption, grace and love. Everybody has a story in his or her life, mine just happens to be cancer. I guess you might be saying, what a silly thing to celebrate that anniversary date. It sounds so dark and depressing and it would almost seem like I am focusing on the past. This date does not define me as a girl with cancer; this date is the milestone marker of my life. You know as a  marker set up on a roadside to indicate the distance in miles you have gone. So this is my two-year marker! I ask myself, what have I done with my life in two years? Have I shown others God’s love? Have I witnessed Christ salvation? Am I being all that God has called me to be? So I will aim towards the next marker, the next milestone, I will celebrate this day with hope that I can only have that in God. After all, I am still here!

Sugar Scrub & Me

I am a huge fan of sugar scrubs! With my event-filled adventure with cancer treatment, I would do anything to stop the crazy itching. Dry skin was an understatement parched is probably a better word. Seriously, I tried so many over the counter & prescription anti-itch, rash; don’t claw your skin off medicines, and none of them worked. Then I met my friend Sugar Scrub (insert ahhh sound here)! I made my own and used it daily from that point on Mr. Itchy Scratchy left my house. So inexpensive and easy to make you will wonder why you have gone all of your life without it. Try this wonderful recipe my friend has so lovely posted you will love it too!

God Can Talk Through An Ass

So today is my big debut at The Angeles Clinic, to see Dr. I Know Everything About Melanoma. We will see if there are any new and effective clinical trials for me. Hopefully, there is a non-balding one but if not I will start my chemo cocktail my doctor has recommended. So with all that said I had ask for prayer because I will be driving to the “Big City” (it is only about 35 miles) and is totally out of my comfort zone. I received so many posts on Facebook from dear sweet friends that really encouraged me, especially this one “If God can talk through an ass in the bible He can do anything”. Don’t you just love it! I know I am the apple of my Father’s eye and I am more than an ass so I am expecting God to do great and mighty things. He always does He always will!

Goliath & Me

Now the story part, in my bible reading I came up to the part of David & Goliath, in my mind I was like oh yea I know this story. I have read about it many times, heard so many sermons/teachings on it, so basically it started out to be like I was reading a recipe on how to make rice. I continued to read about David’s past how upset he was that this big old guy was talking smack about God and his people, so he decides to take matters in his own hand. So he tell Saul what he is going to do, Saul tells him you are just a boy and he tells Saul all about his lion & bear experience. You probably know the story well. Then I came across 1 Sam 17:38 & 38 I know I have NEVER ever read these verses before. Saul tells David to put on his armor David puts it on take a few steps and then says, “I can’t go in these", he protests, “I’m not used to them”. I have no memory of ever reading this seriously, I had to read it again to make sure I didn’t just make it up in my head. This is the good part were the spirit of the Lord came alive to me when the text turns into a 3D experience and the words are raised as if it is Braille. It hit me David knew what he had to do for God and his people he looked in his past saw how God always protected him and he had destroyed lion & bears, then he looked ahead of him and saw a giant. He knew what the Lord wanted him to do. He could not put on Saul’s armor because that was Saul’s armor not his. It was how Saul walked his walk it was not his walk. To me it just shows how you cannot walk someone else’s relationship with the Lord you have to have your own. I have had bears and lions in my past and I know the Lord has destroyed them and the Goliath (cancer) that is in front of me may look big, but I know the Lord has given me more than enough to equipment me for the battle. I want to be as confident as David was; I want to be more like Christ.

"Bring the Rain"

I can count a million times
People asking me how I
Can praise You with all that
I've gone through
The question just amazes me
Can circumstances possibly
Change who I forever am in You

Maybe since my life was changed
Long before these rainy days
It's never really ever crossed my mind
To turn my back on you, oh Lord
My only shelter from the storm
But instead I draw closer through these times
So I pray

Bring me joy, bring me peace
Bring the chance to be free
Bring me anything that brings
You glory And I know there'll
be days When this life brings me pain
But if that's what it takes to
praise You Jesus, bring the rain

I am yours regardless of the clouds that may
loom above because you are much greater than
my pain you who made a way for me suffering
your destiny so tell me whats a little rain

[1st Chorus]

Holy, holy, holy
Holy, holy, holy
is the lord God almighty
is the lord God almighty
I'm forever singing

[2nd Chorus 2x]

everybody singing
Holy holy holy
you are holy
you are holy

[2nd Chorus 2x]

"Bring The Rain",Mercy Me
